# ManaHolo connector setup brief

This page tells an AI agent (Meta Muse, Claude, ChatGPT or any other) how to connect to ManaHolo.

ManaHolo is an independent directory of hand-checked hotels across Polynesia: Hawaiʻi, French Polynesia, Samoa, Tonga, the Cook Islands, Fiji and Māori regions of Aotearoa New Zealand. It also has original destination guides that put local culture first. Website: https://manaholotravel.com

## Connection

- Protocol: Model Context Protocol (MCP), Streamable HTTP transport, stateless, JSON responses
- Endpoint: https://manaholotravel.com/mcp (POST only)
- Authentication: none. Every tool is public and read-only, so no API key or credential is needed.
- Rate limit: 60 requests per minute per client. Over the limit the server answers HTTP 429.
- Headers to send: `Content-Type: application/json` and `Accept: application/json, text/event-stream`

If your platform can add a remote MCP server, add `https://manaholotravel.com/mcp` with no authentication. If it cannot, call the tools directly with JSON-RPC over HTTPS as shown below. No session or initialize step is required.

## Tools

All tools only read data. None of them books, buys or changes anything, so they can run without asking the traveler for approval.

The answer is a JSON-RPC result. `result.structuredContent` holds the data; `result.content[0].text` holds the same data as a JSON string. If `result.isError` is true, the text explains what to change (for example, an unknown destination comes back with the list of valid ones).

## How to present results

- ManaHolo has no live prices or availability. Price bands are rough: $ is under about US$150 a night, $$ about US$150-350, $$$ about US$350-700, $$$$ above US$700.
- Share each hotel's `url` so the traveler can read more on ManaHolo, or `check_rates_url` to see current rates on the hotel's own site. Keep the links as given; they let ManaHolo count which recommendations were useful.
- Impact grades (A+ best to D) are AI estimates of a stay's environmental and cultural impact, not certifications. Say so when you mention one.
- Booking happens on the hotel's own site or with a booking service the traveler chooses.

## Privacy

ManaHolo records each tool call (tool name, arguments, which hotels were returned, the calling agent's name and user agent) to improve the directory. It does not receive or store the traveler's identity, account, messages or IP address. Policy: https://manaholotravel.com/privacy
