Coconut Grove Beachfront Resort
About this stay
Coconut Grove is a small boutique resort at Matei on the north end of Taveuni, open since 1993 and set on one of the island's few soft-sand beaches. A house reef lies directly in front, reachable by kayak, and Matei's restaurants and shops are nearby. It is the closest resort to Bouma National Heritage Park, with the Tavoro waterfalls and the Lavena coastal walk. Dive shops nearby run trips to the Rainbow Reef. It suits couples who want a small, personal stay with snorkeling, hiking and a beach.

About Taveuni
Taveuni is Fiji's third-largest island, a long volcanic ridge east of Vanua Levu covered in rainforest and fringed by black and golden sand beaches. Often called the Garden Island, it gets plenty of rain, which feeds waterfalls, rivers and dense vegetation. It suits divers, hikers and birdwatchers more than beach loungers, and it feels far less developed than western Viti Levu or the Mamanucas.
Getting there
Matei Airport (TVU) in the north is served by Fiji Airways' domestic Fiji Link flights from Nadi and Suva, about 90 minutes from Nadi. Inter-island ferries from Suva call at Savusavu on Vanua Levu and continue to Taveuni. There are also small ferry crossings from Buca Bay on Vanua Levu.
