Mana is the Polynesian word for life-force. The score weighs three positive pillars, ʻāina (land), ʻohana (community) and moʻolelo (story), against how crowded the place already is.
Today these scores are AI estimates built from public information, not audits. A score can go above 1.0 when a stay's positive contributions outweigh its tourism impact; anything above 1.0 is graded A+.
