Le Nuku Hiva is a small hotel of about twenty bungalows above Taiohae Bay, the main harbor of Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas. The Marquesas are the most remote inhabited islands in French Polynesia, with steep valleys, carved stone tiki and very few hotels, and Taiohae is the islands' administrative center. There is no lagoon here; the draw is the landscape, the archaeological sites and the Marquesan carving and tattoo traditions. It suits travelers who want somewhere comfortable to come back to after long days in the valleys.
