Formerly Turtle Bay Resort, this is the main resort on Oahu's North Shore, set on a point at Kahuku with beaches on both sides. The North Shore is rural compared with Honolulu, about an hour's drive away, and in winter its big-wave breaks such as Sunset Beach and Pipeline draw surfers and spectators. In summer the water is usually calmer for swimming and snorkeling. It suits travelers who want Oahu without the city, with the food trucks and surf town of Haleiwa within reach.
