Dreams Come True on Lanai
About this stay
Dreams Come True on Lānaʻi is a small private home in Lānaʻi City, the island's only town, offered either as individual bed-and-breakfast rooms or as a whole-house vacation rental. The owners also make jewellery and can help arrange four-wheel-drive rental, which is the usual way to reach Lānaʻi's remote beaches and dirt-road sights. The town's shops, cafés and square are close by. It is one of the few alternatives to the island's resorts, and suits independent travelers and small groups who want a home base at a fraction of resort prices.
About Lana'i
Lana'i is a small, quiet island of about 3,000 residents, almost all living in Lāna'i City, a former plantation town built around a square of tall Cook pines. For much of the twentieth century the island was a pineapple plantation, and today it combines that working-town heritage with a small number of resort-style stays. It suits travellers who want calm, empty roads and time outdoors rather than nightlife, and it is often visited on a day trip from Maui.
Getting there
Lāna'i Airport (LNY) is served by small commuter flights, mainly from Honolulu, taking about 30 minutes. A passenger ferry links Lana'i with Maui, taking about an hour, with the crossing often bringing views of whales and dolphins in season.
