Moorea Beach Lodge
About this stay
Moorea Beach Lodge is a small hotel at Haapiti on Moorea's west coast, well away from the busier north shore around Cook's and Opunohu bays. Thirteen wooden bungalows, some facing the garden and some the lagoon, are grouped around a lounge that opens straight onto a white-sand beach. Kayaks and bikes are part of the stay, and the hotel can arrange a rental car and lagoon trips. It suits couples and small families who want a quiet, beach-level base with sunset views toward the open ocean, and who are happy to drive to restaurants and sights.

About Moorea
Moorea sits just across the Sea of the Moon channel from Tahiti, close enough to see from Papeete. It is a high island of jagged green peaks, two deep northern bays and a lagoon fringed by small motu. It suits nearly everyone: families, hikers, snorkellers and day-trippers from Tahiti. Compared with Bora Bora it is more lived-in and varied, with farms, villages and a range of places to stay beyond large resorts.
Getting there
Most visitors arrive by ferry from Papeete, a crossing of about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the boat, landing at Vaiare on the east coast. Moorea also has a small airport (MOZ) with short flights from Tahiti and connections to other Society Islands.
