Volcano House is the only hotel inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, perched on the rim of Kilauea's summit caldera. It has 33 rooms, plus cabins and campsites a short drive away. Staying here puts the park's crater rim trails, lava tubes and night views of the caldera right outside the door. The summit is high and often cool and misty, so warm layers help. It suits hikers and anyone who wants to see the park early and late in the day, when the crowds are thinner.
