Va-i-Moana Seaside Lodge
About this stay
Va-i-Moana Seaside Lodge is tucked into a small cove on Asau Bay, on the far north-west coast of Savaiʻi, known as the Sunset Coast. Accommodation ranges from traditional open Samoan fales to air-conditioned suites, all looking over the bay, with a private beach and kayaks for paddling out to a small uninhabited island. Cultural activities are a big part of the program. It is a long drive from the ferry wharf at Salelologa. It suits travelers who want Samoan hospitality and a remote, unhurried corner of the island.

About Savai'i
Savai'i is the larger of Samoa's two main islands but has a much smaller population than Upolu, with villages strung around the coast and a high, forested interior. It suits travellers who want beach fale stays, lava landscapes and village life with very little development. Compared with Upolu there are fewer resorts, shops and restaurants, and the pace slows noticeably once you step off the ferry.
Getting there
International flights arrive at Faleolo International Airport (APW) on Upolu. From there it is a short drive to Mulifanua Wharf, where vehicle and passenger ferries cross to Salelologa on Savai'i in about an hour to an hour and a half.
